Success Story of Janet
Janet is a vibrant, active mid-70-year-old woman who just couldn’t get rid of that stomach pouch! She came to see us, and it was clear from the outset that she was motivated, jumping on her home trampoline daily to get into shape. Like many of us, she wanted to look good for herself and her hubby and feel like herself, and despite her best efforts, that stomach fat was hard to move!
Janet had four handles/applicators applied in a diamond shape to cover her abdomen for 120 minutes. We were delighted and somewhat surprised that Janet continued to talk to friends on her mobile, listened to music and read with minimal discomfort or fuss. We wanted to ensure we kept a close eye and her comfort levels; however, she was a dream client.
Following her fat-freezing treatment Janet improved her diet and has been exercising for 20 mins a day on the trampoline - due to our Behavioural Change Program. The combination of fat-freezing treatment and the program led her to lose 5kg in less than 1 month. How does Fat freezing work?
Like all of our clients, we had to educate Janet that fat freezing is not an obesity treatment or to help with global weight loss. Fat freezing works on the subcutaneous layer of fat cells and can contour the body. It is not a weight loss treatment because body weight is impacted daily by various factors, including the size of muscles, the level of hydration (due to intake and hormone fluctuations), and the amount of food in the digestive tract. The fat cells that are located in the abdominal cavity are known as visceral fat, and there is also intramuscular fat (fat cells that are found within the muscles) and neither of these due to their location and the protective area of the muscles adjacent to them are not impacted by fat freezing. Only the number of subcutaneous fat cells where the fat freezing applicator or handle is applied is reduced by freezing, which is why it is not considered a global weight loss treatment. Whilst we have subcutaneous fat cells covering our entire body, fat freezing is only used to reduce the amount of fat in the area where the applicator (or handle ) is placed and, in Janet’s case, on her belly. While Janet is only one month in, she has already started to feel and look better..
